The Gods told him of an underground lake that held more water than he needed, if he could get it to the surface. He had an idea, but no one knew where the lake was located. Sephia had heard her uncle tell of a vast black water deep in a cave in the mountains. To save their people, they must find the lake, build a machine to move the water to the fields, and do so quickly. What Jin had not figured into his plans was off-worlders kidnapping Sephia and others critical to the project.

People are rioting in the streets on Earth as the settlement ships take off. The crew enters cryogenic stasis and sleeps until the ship awakens them 150 years later. The ship has chosen a planet with vast varieties of plant life, but no appreciable animal or other intelligent life forms.

Content to stay and research the planet, they settle on the surface. As the days and weeks pass, they find they have enough here to survive. With that decision made, they dismantle the ship, burying the computers underground to form a data center.

Years pass and generations are born and the original settlers pass on. But the dead speak to the living of a catastrophe looming in the not so distant future - one that could wipe out all life on the planet.

Abby is finally ready to water test her fish drone in open water. Reed accompanies her to a branch of the Chesapeake River. During the test, they find a submerged car – with three bodies inside. With help from the local police, the car is extracted and the bodies identified. The scene is ruled first as an accident, then as a crime gone bad when the child is identified as a missing child from a kidnapped group of children incoming to foster homes.

Abby calls her friends at the FBI to help solve the case after she uses the fish drone to follow a young diver from the scene. Something isn’t right and with the lives of nine other children on the line, Abby refuses to stand idly by.

Single parent Scott and his infant daughter, Zoe, live next door to the ultimate recluse.  She never leaves her apartment, has everything delivered to her door, but never opens it while the delivery person is present, works from home, and never has anyone over.  One evening, desperate for a baby sitter, Scott begs her to take Zoe for a few hours while he helps a friend extract a woman and her children from an abusive home.  The recluse relents and opens her door to Zoe and her infant seat.

As Zoe grows up, Amy becomes a surrogate mother to her.  For her part, Amy stays as reclusive as possible – it’s safer for someone who has been declared dead to not be seen in public.  But Zoe is relentless and Amy can’t resist her childish smiles and giggles, nor her invitations to come to dinner, her birthday party, or the park.
